What a gem! There are not many MK1 Estates around, that is for sure. In all our years this is the first one we encounter.
Some of the history of this vehicle is available and we will try and share what we know. This is not something sold in SA as far as we gather.
This is a UK built vehicle which was sent to Rhodesia, just as some of the 2 door Cortina GT’s were as well, and found its way to SA through Zimbabwe. They were never officially sold in SA. All tags refer to the UK production line.
The original matching numbers 1300 Kent engine and manual transmission are still fitted to the vehicle and was completely rebuilt during the restoration. She runs impeccably without any hiccups.
This colour, which has grown on us, is the factory paintcode called Evergreen. This is shown on the build tag as well.
The interior presents near perfect and is as close to factory spec as possible. The whole idea around the restoration was to make this gem as good as possible, with all the correct bits and pieces. We have said many times before, it is all in the detail.
Mechanically she is 10/10 and needs nothing.
All paperwork is in order and up to date. She is registered as a 1973 model with “USED” status which is excellent for any collector.
Located in Shere, Pretoria East for viewings per appointment only.

Not so sure about the coffee shop, got charged an eye watering R70 for a double shot Cuppa. By far the most expensive coffee I ever had anywhere in SA! 😩 Cars were nice though!
