Corber Viljoen
From a young age I have been drawn to anything old and out of the ordinary, especially vehicles. I was fortunate enough to be given an old Mini when I was very young and that is where it all started.
Before I was 15 years old, I had 5 classic cars – and it wasn’t going to stop there. The passion grew and the fire burnt bigger every day. When I was in grade 9, my late father organised employment for me at a friend who was a panel beater who had some classic cars of his own. I worked there over the weekends and public holidays, until I finished school.”
My mother had this idea in her head that her eldest son will choose a professional career and this is the reason I qualified as a private pilot straight out of school. The bug never bit and soon after I obtained my PPL, I decided to go back into the classic car industry as that is what I loved and wanted to do. I soon realised that if this was going to be my career, I would need to become known in the industry and that a good reputation was key. This was and is my focus to this day.
In 2014, Wat Swaai Jy? was registered, and we have been trading full-time since then, trying to make our industry a better place and more manageable for car enthusiasts. I am blessed to have built great relationships over the past 15 years and even more so that I decided to make my beautiful wife, Nadia, a part of the business in a full-time position. She is the one that makes sure the ship does not sink!
We have grown from a one man show to a company that employs 15 individuals, all with a passion for classic cars.
The future holds big plans and ideas, all in due time!
